Kayley's Eagle Scout Journey |
This is the main page that will be chronicling Kayley's Eagle Journey. She used to attend every single Cub Scout meeting with her brother Kenton. She did all the same activities he did, which was allowed. The only downside is back then girls were not allowed in Scouts BSA. One time when Kenton was a Webelos Scout she put on his hat, and neckerchief, and her pony tail across her upper lip, like a mustache, and said, "Hello, I'm Mr. Pickle, and I want to be a Boy Scout!" Mr. Pickle, is one of Kayley's skits.
Finally Scouts BSA allowed girls to join. I asked her if she wanted to do so. She was a bit upset, and said no! After so many years of wanting to do so, she was over it. All the while, she was an active member of Girl Scout Troop 321. On the day of Kenton's Eagle Project, I was reflecting on his 11 year, 2 month journey in Scouts BSA, thinking I guess this is it. This is my last ever scouting activity as a parent. Literally that second Kayley came up to me, and said, 'Dad, I think I want to get my Eagle Scout too!" HOOOOORAYYYYY!!!!! |
