Have you participated in a downhill pushcart derby race? Did you race at the Pack 271 hosted race? If you or someone you know built a pushcart car and has a desire to race some more here is your chance! This event will take place entirely on our Chartered Organization's grounds at First Presbyterian Church of Garden Grove. This event is sponsored by #Scout 75. That's our combined nick name for Pack 75 and Troop 75. We have been serving the southern Anaheim, northern Garden Grove Disney Resort Area since 1927. Rechartered consecutively since 1957. The Inspiration for this Event All the boys and parents put in a great deal of effort to build and customize their pushcarts. Kenton's USC Trojans push cart pictured on the right won best theme, and was the only entrant to play sound. It played the USC Fight Song as it went down the hill. Towards the end of the race the thought came up of what do you do with these push carts now? Throw that award winner into the fire pit? No! The leadership team of #Scout75 thought what if we could re-purpose it on a flat surface in an obstacle course and drag race? There you have it. A new scouting event was born. This award winner has raced in every Scout 75 Fest and won gold medals in multiple categories. The first Annual Scout 75 Fest was held on Saturday, September 13, 2014. After that it has been held in June. So tell your friends and family to come join the fun!. We will have lots of fun stuff to do in addition to the races. Troops Welcome to Participate! We see this event as an opportunity to have fun, and also to have the area packs work together with their associated troops, and crews. Therefore, we want to extend and invitation to all area troops and crews to participate as drivers and pushers. Everyone can meet and make new friends. Remember this event is open to ALL area Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venturing Crews! Volunteers & Donations Welcome We gladly welcome anyone who wants to volunteer to help. We will have several positions available. We need volunteers to help set up, clean up, and run some games, etc. If you have a tip on where we can get items or equipment that can be used for this event, please let us know. Some items we may need are cones, barriers, rope, sound system, music, etc. Vendor Booth Rentals We will have a limited amount of spaces available to select vendors. Bring your EZ-Up, and set up your booth, man it, and clean it up at the end of the event. Vendor areas will be approximately 10 feet by 10 feet. If requested, two or more areas can be booked. Vendor Booths will be on a first come, first served basis. Your spot is not booked until payment has been completed. No concession booths please. |
